Those first few bites taste like heaven. Endorphins are released, and we are on cloud nine. But after that last spoonful leaves our lips, our bodies often go through a physical or emotional mini depression. I have found that the surge of endorphins is great for the moment, but the experience is short lived. Our bodies don’t fair too well with added refined sugar, or the emotional lashing some of us dole out when beating ourselves up for “caving-in” to our craving.
Want to hear some good news? With a few healthy swaps, there isn't any reason why you can't "treat yourself" to a little indulgence sans guilt. It is CRUCIAL to nourish your body, mind, and spirit with REAL food. This section of the site will highlight some amazing desserts that are secretly HEALTHY. Yes, you read that correctly—I just placed the words “healthy” and “dessert” in the same sentence. I am here to convince you that tasty HEALTHY desserts do exist!
With a little bit of effort, and a spirit for adventure, we can delve into a whole slew of delicious desserts that pack nutritious things like pumpkin, garbanzo beans, applesauce, beets, and spinach into our treats (without tasting like a wheat grass shot).
I will add recipes as I try them out in my own kitchen (to make sure they pass the "husband test"--my hubby has a very critical opinion when it comes to messing with his sweet tooth!)
