To "LIVE"
Over the past several weeks I have celebrated 3 years of marriage to my wonderful husband Alex, watched my best friend graduate from dental school, enjoyed a brief homecoming of my brother from Naval deployment, and spent some good 'ole fashioned quality time with friends and family--morning coffees, afternoon teas, froyo dates, "family dinners", studio time, bike rides, hikes, walks, yoga sessions, impromptu (and somewhat uncoordinated) dance parties, weekend getaways, s'mores sessions... the list goes on and on. In other words, I have had a delightful time embracing my role as "author and artist" of my life--relishing in the act of creating a beautiful story! I feel truly blessed to have such an incredible group of individuals: friends, family, and coworkers that color the canvas of my life, and the pages of my book, with such vibrant colors, and magnificent stories.

I think that those moments of meditation, those times in nature, those connections with loved ones, those stories and shared experiences that you will "never forget" are the key to happiness. They are "worth" making time for.
While I feel as though it is of utmost importance to operate with integrity--(honoring your responsibilities, and living life with a strong moral compass) there are choices available to us. If we look closely, each of us have a little wiggle room, a little play in our day to day operations. |
There will always be tasks, deadlines, or responsibilities that call for our attention-- but sometimes we need to take a step back and truly weigh the benefits of an important, but maybe not so critical responsibility (let's say cleaning the house, folding the laundry, making the "perfect" dinner, or checking email for the 50th time today...) vs allowing ourselves to participate in something that not only sounds appealing on paper, but would ultimately would fill our "love tank" (meeting up with a friend, going out for a walk, spending time doing something creative, crafting a handwritten note, or turning our attention inward for some yoga...).

Allowing oneself room to explore with emotions, with nature, with loved ones, with new opportunities is the greatest gift. I think that we all have the ability to lead lives that energize our soul, and fill our bodies with vigor--the challenging part is getting out of "auto-pilot" and actively taking hold of the wheel.
Getting what you want is simple, but not easy (check out this TED talk by Mel Robbins). It takes energy, heart, participation, and courage to actively embrace what makes our hearts sing. I believe that we owe it to ourselves to make the most of each moment, follow our dreams, and set goals that make us want to jump out of bed in the morning. |
Until next time, I will be wishing you peace, love, and happiness.
Namaste,
Christy
The secret to accomplishing your dreams is not to focus on changing the old, but building the new.
